Who We Are

National Interprofessional Organization of Honey and Other Bee Products, which was established after an initiative of the under-Secretary of Rural Development and Food, Mr. A. Kontos, operates officially since 14/7/05. Its national status has been declared since the 28th of March 2006 by the Ministerial Order No 256604/8-2-06.
According to its statute the Organization is a legal entity of private equity and nonprofit status and performs the following main activities:
• contribution in planning and application of strategy and development policies relevant to the production, standardization and trading of honey and other bee products.
• Transparent organization and management of the market, better adaptation of products into programs of quality improvement and better coordination of their release.
• enhancement of measures for products safety, especially with quality control, so as to protect customers.
• Research development, knowledge improvement, information gathering in order to orientate production to goods that meet most of the market needs, preferences and expectations of consumers, especially in relation to their quality.
• promotion, presentation and protection of biological apiculture and protected names of origin, of geographical indications and quality marks.
The Organisation constitutes the basic collocutor of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food for the planning, configuration and application of strategy and development policies of all activities that relate to honey and other beehive products.
Today, the representation of the whole sector of honey and other beehive products in Interprofessional has as follows:
A) Producers
• The Trade Unions with GESASE, SYDASE and OMSE
• The Co-Operative Institutions with the Consortium of Greek Apiculture Co-Operatives, the Consortium of Greek Apiculture Co-Operatives of Crete and two large Co-Operatives (of Nikiti and Thassos)
B) Standardizes and Traders
• The above mentioned Consortiums and Co-operatives
• The Association of Greek Standardizers, Packers and Exporters of Honey
